Apothecary Jar Wedding Decorations - Inexpensive Yet Upscale

por | | 0 comments

I've always had a fondness for apothecary jars.    There's just something about them that makes whatever you put inside seem much more special.    Whether filled with guest soaps/beauty accoutrements in a powder room or fresh fruit/snacks in a kitchen, apothecary jars always make an upscale, vintage presentation.

Because they're available in a variety of styles, shapes and sizes, (and are inexpensive -- Target, Michaels, Ikea) apothecary jars are ideal for enhancing dessert/candy buffets, or as centerpieces and favor containers.   As shown below, you can even use them as cake stands.    For added appeal, adorn apothecary jars with decorative clings or stickers that contain your names/wedding date, instructions (i.e. "Help Yourself") or jar contents.

Title: Ron's visions in blue - The Love potion

PLEASE READ FIRST!!
Thanks =)
The story is a little bit complicated, so here's the storyline:

A few years after the battle of Hogwarts Ron decides to marry Hermione. He visits Lavender and tells her about it (Ron was never really tactful ;). She's shoked, 'cause she still loves Ron. Thus she gives him a love potion to "celebrate" the affiance and Ron drinks it together with Harry and Hermione before he asks Hermione whether to marry him. But Ron falls in love with Lavender after drinking the potion and Hermione doesn't know, that he wanted to marry her. She's really sad, but Ron leaves her and runs to Lavender. From this time on, Ron sees everything blue, because these are his "visions in blue". Although he's happy with Lavender he misses something, but he doesn't know what. He sees Hermione at a Quidditch game and he dreams about her, but everytime he wants to think about these dreams, Lavender gives him the potion, so he forgets Hermione. One day Harry discovers what happened to Ron, but Ron doesn't want to listen. He tells it Hermione as well and she knows now, that's only the potion. After another dream about Hermione, Ron recognize, that he loves her too and that Harry must have been right. He doesn't want to drink the potion anymore and leaves Lavender. Ron and Hermione are happy together again and they finally marry (I know, the two aren't Ron&Hermione in the video, but I haven't got better clips for it...) Lavender is really angry now, but - Who cares? ;)

Sorry for the little cuts in the song, but my story was unfortunatly a little bit too long for the song so I had to stretch it a little bit...

As I said in the video: I only own the editing!!

Thanks for watching and if you like it, I would be very, very happy if you rate&comment =)

Dear Edward Cullen:

por | | 0 comments

Breaking Dawn SPOILER ALERT. (AND RANT).

I love you. I always will. But this Stephenie Meyer person is just fucked up. Next JK Rowling, my ass. I will just pretend Eclipse was the final book of the series, because I much rather leave your life story incomplete than having it that way. That way we can write I knew one. Ours.

JK Rowling taught us that some young adult novels can be longer than 500 pages. Stephenie Meyer showed us the reasons wich some of those novels SHOULDN´T. She had in her hands the opportunity to send a very powerful message, and she sent the wrong one. Yei for making her characters wait til after they´re married to have sex. Good way to end all this babies having babies thing and STD epidemics. And then in this book, she makes you, Edward "Hollier Than Thou" Cullen, tell Bella to have an abortion and enter an open marriage with Jacob Black, just so she can have a baby. Can anyone say "out of character"?

She also made it sound like if you marry young, into a wealthy family, disregard your college education and have a baby you will be happily ever after. Honey, just because she´s a mormon and wouldn´t be doing much than changing diapers if it weren´t for the creativity displayed in the first three books, doesn´t mean that this generation of teenage women should do the same! She blew it. She really blew it, Edward.

Cliche, and then another cliche, and another one and another one. Jacob, who I hate but loves Bella, Imprinted on your daughter with her. Predictable. Oh, no! It wasn´t cuz vampires can´t have babies. She said it from the beggining. And then didn´t properly explain the "loophole" that miraculously allowed a human being get impregnated by a fucking vampire, come on! Don´t even get me started with the name of the kid! Edward, you are a super powerful vampire, couldn´t you tackle her and make her name the thing something else than "Renesmee Carlie"?! I frigging hope Harry Potter got his Baby Naming Book back.

Another thing, Ed. Were all the Italics really necessary? I mean, all book 2 from Jacob´s POV was written like this. It can get really annoying, even if it is thoughts what she was writing down. She should be put away. Honestly.

Jacob´s blond jokes were funny. Alice coming up with a never heard before nickname for Jasper was totally out of the blue. Not cool. Rosalie is a selfish little bitch who should have died at the battle scene... battle scene? Oooh wait!

Battle scene. No battle scene. I wanted the Volturi to freak out and go apeshit on the Cullens. But no, a 3-month old vampire was as powerful as them. And she had a "love shield." Oh, wait! Harry Potter is shielded by his mother´s blood. Because she loved him so much that she gave her life to protect him. IDIOT. It´s called disguised plagiarism, Edward. It was just too much to handle. Very clever considering 90% of her FORMER fandom read Harry Potter too. And thanks to that pathetic excuse of a book of hers, that´s all they will ever read. Jo made them read and now they´ll just have to go back to Playstation and downloading porn.

Yes, downloading porn beacuse there was no sex scene. No sex scene. AND and no battle. OK, fine, let´s pretend there was no battle beacuse it is a romance novel for young adults. THEN GIMME A SEX SCENE. The bitch made us wait three books to have a semi graphic description (I wasn´t expecting Venus Channel or Playboy magazine) of how a vampire could not kill the woman (teenager) he is sleeping with. But no! wait, she´s a mormon. And her 3 kids were brought in by a delivery guy. She may be richer than me, but she´s a fucking pussy! And come on, but why should her belief system be shoved at my face when I´m reading a book to entertain myself? And if she at least were coherent! Abortion wrong. But open marriages and pedophiles, even if it "isn´t like that," are ok. Those will get you a spot right next to God.

She single handedly murdered literature and I really don´t know what her editors were thinking when the allowed her to publish this ABOMINATION. I´m so disappointed. I really thought she could wrap it up nicely, she had all the potential in the world and didn´t live up to it.

Whatev. How you doin´? Still on for tonight? Pick me up at 8. Muaks.

Hollywood Glamour Theme Wedding

por | | 0 comments

If there's ever a time for you to feel like a star, it's on your wedding day.   Choose a Hollywood Glamour wedding theme and turn your walk down the aisle into a walk on the red carpet.

The first step in planning your Hollywood Glamour inspired wedding is to sit down with your fiance(e) and together decide on the type of wedding ceremony and reception you wish to have.    Decide which Hollywood themed elements you want to incorporate into the wedding ceremony and reception (ideas below)

Row 1:   Art Deco Inspired Invitations;   Hollywood Glamour Cake Topper;  Chandelier Earrings;  Film Reel

Row 2:  Rolls Royce Phantom;  Audrey Hepburn Wedding Dress;   Satin & Feathers Fascinator;  Hollywood Themed Drink Tickets

Row 3:  Bride & Groom Favor Bags;   Hollywood Themed Wedding Cake;  Piano Place Card Holders;  Wedding Favor/Place Cards

Row 4:  Red w/Crystal Bridal Bouquet;  Birdcage Veil;  Hollywood Camera Table Sign;  Ostrich Feather Centerpieces

Consider these ideas to set the tone of your Hollywood Glamour wedding:

  • Invitations: Order wedding invitations & stationery with Art Deco embellishments and fonts.   Color?    You can't go wrong with classic black and white.   For a bit of whimsy, use admission ticket style invitations to invite guests to your big event!

  • Colors: Choose wedding colors that will help to create a sophisticated atmosphere such as black, white, or silver.    Use vibrant accent colors sparingly.   Think Art Deco when it comes to decorating your reception venue.

  • Transportation: Instead of renting a limousine for your wedding party, splurge on a Rolls Royce Phantom.

  • Bridal accessories: Think cinematic glamour when choosing accents for your bridal attire.   Opt for sparkly chandelier earrings.    If your hair is longer than shoulder length, consider an up-do glammed up with sparkly hair jewels, or a vintage-inspired fascinator.   For shoulder length hair or shorter, marcel waves or finger waves will give instant cinematic glamour.

  • Bridesmaids: Select tea-length dresses for your bridesmaids in a muted color such as black or gray with sparkling embellishments.

  • Make-up: Go all out by having a makeup artist on site to give you and your "supporting cast" the royal treatment.   Choose vibrantly colored lips for you and your girls.

  • Wedding photos: Have your photographer take some of your wedding photos in black and white for an elegant vintage effect.   Ask if a sepia effect can be applied to the photos to give the smoky, dreamy look found in old movies.

With Hollywood themed cameras, your wedding
    guests become the paparazzi!

Bridal Shower Theme Ideas – Bridal Shower Tea Party

por | | 0 comments

For a bridal shower theme idea that's oh so girly, go with a bridal shower tea party.   It's a positively delicious way to spend time with girlfriends and relax with a steaming pot of tea.

A bridal shower tea party can be intimate, with just the bridal party attending, or it can include other female friends and relatives that will attend the wedding.   Although co-ed showers are increasing in popularity, this shower theme isn't suitable for mixed genders because the food and decorations are typically light and feminine.
  • Create the perfect setting with pastel tablecloths (or in your wedding colors) and floral centerpieces.   Use a tea pot that coordinates with your table decorations.

  • This is not the time for paper plates or cups.    A fun idea is to have each guest bring her own tea cup and saucer (a tea-for-one could work as well).    If you're having a fairly large number of guests and don't have enough real plates, beautifully decorated paper plates may not be a bad idea after all.

  • Have your tea party indoors or find the perfect spot in your garden.   Check local listings for a Tea Room in your area or click on the photo above for a Tea Room Directory.

  • If you're the hostess, gift the bride-to-be with a tea pot.

  • Serve finger sandwiches, scones, cookies, chocolate covered strawberries, fruit salad and other treats buffet style.

  • Plan to have beverages besides tea on hand for non-tea drinkers.

  • Be sure to keep refilling teapots with boiling water and allow a few minutes for the tea to brew nicely.

  • Leave each guest with a memento of their delightful afternoon.   This type of bridal shower makes favor-giving quite simple: give favors with a tea theme such as a tin of tea, tea infuser or honey pot.

You can contribute too! Create your own DIY guide at http://www.howcast.com/videos/new or produce your own Howcast spots with the Howcast Filmmakers Program at http://www.howcast.com/filmmakers/apply.

Organize a bridal bash that people will actually want to attend using these innovative ideas.

To complete this How-To you will need:

The bride's likes and dislikes
A theme

Step 1: Don't get hung up on rules

Throw out any old-fashioned notions of what you "have" to do. Let the bride's personality dictate the theme. Does she have any hobbies? Special interests? A favorite indulgence?

Tip: There's no law that says men can't be included. Ask the bride if she'd like a co-ed shower.

Step 2: Focus on food

If she or her future husband loves to cook, consider a recipe shower, where everyone brings a favorite recipe and a kitchen item that's helpful in preparing it. Ask several guests to make their dish and it becomes a potluck supper. Or hire a local chef to give guests a cooking lesson.

Step 3: Lift her spirits

If pre-dinner cocktails are more her thing, have a "stock the bar" party, where everyone brings two bottles of liquor -- one for the couple's liquor cabinet and one to use as you all learn to make classic cocktails. For the vino-loving bride, throw a wine-tasting party; guests bring one bottle for tasting, and one for the newlyweds' wine collection.

Step 4: Soothe her frazzled nerves

Does the bride like to be pampered? Hold the shower at a local salon, where everyone can enjoy spa treatments. Or set up a private yoga class for the gang. Don't forget the champagne!

Step 5: Have a slumber party

Consider a throwback slumber party. Make it grown up by holding it at a hotel, where you can all pile into adjoining suites, order room service, and laugh and talk the night away.

Step 6: Sex it up

For the frisky bride, throw a lingerie party with a twist: Hire someone to teach pole dancing or striptease skills.

Step 7: Do some good

For the community-minded bride, why not turn the shower into an opportunity to help others? Spend a day helping build a house or cleaning up a local park. Reward yourselves with a relaxing dinner afterwards.

Jali "Amazing"

por | | 0 comments
My dear friend Shilpa from The Carlton Hotel invited us to Jali to celebrate their fabulous 2nd Birthday, and what a treat, Jason and I have been a couple of times I've told you about it before, but you know, you really do have to go, it's so special, I love all the seriously authentic touches.

The superficial person that I undoubtedly am adores how very beautifull all of the waiting on staff are, the exquisitly beautiful front of house lady in her glorious red sari, the heady fragrance of Indian incense when you enter, the decor, the tranquility, the out and out specialness of it just made me want to tell you all about it and force you all to go.
Jali "Amazing" But more importantly than all of that is how truly delicious the food is this week they're having a Thali festival which looked spectacular on the plate but more than that was utterly divine on the palate.
Jali "Amazing" The starter was a combination of Chicken Tikka (Much better than the one we had at Michelin Starred Benares), Lamb Samosa & Sheek Kebab, now all of these things sound familar but they are light years better than any I've tasted anywhere else.
The Thali, Chicken Korma (Sounds ordinary but just wasn't you can taste every spice), Keema Mutter (Lamb Mince with peas, rich gravy & Spices), Goan Fish Curry (My personal favourite), Chaana Masala(Chick Pea Curry), Aloo Gobi (Cauliflower Florets & Potato).
The rice was all light and fluffy, the Daal delicious but The Puri Bread was to die for, I wanted to take some home it was so fresh light and crisp with a soft centre (And seriously fattening I'm sure).
Now I've never really had puddings at an Indian Restaurant but this is Jali so I couldn't resist the Payasham, Vermicelli cooked in Saffron Milk, flavoured with Cardamon & Pistachio Nuts, come on could anyone resist that!
Now as you can see by Thali Platter I couldn't quite manage it all and if you look really carefully you'll see the crumb I left...

Jali "Amazing" Thank You Shilpa for such a fabulous evening, we all thoroughly enjoyed it.
The Jali, Thali Festival is on until tonight so get a table booked or check out their website for future special events here's the telephone number 01253 622223
And if you live away why not make a weekend of it and stay at The Carlton (Next Door) and eat at Jali, come and see our new promenade too it's quite fantabulous!
