Youve selected your dress, the flowers, the music, and the menu. Youve even mailed the announcements; right on schedule, thank you very much. But if youre like most brides, you havent given much consideration to the kind of fragrance youll wear on your wedding day. Fragrance is one of the last things that brides think of when it comes to planning a wedding.
Your choice of a wedding day fragrance shouldnt be dismissed as insignificant. According to designer Vera Wang, Fragrance provokes the senses and conjures up memories in inexplicable ways. The significance of a fragrance that captures all of the emotion, dignity and joy of a wedding is immeasurable. Incredibly intimate yet nearly imperceptible, a bride's fragrance remains with her long after the ceremony is over."
That being said, what memories will your fragrance conjure up? Take time to find a special signature scent that will trigger happy memories of your wedding day for years to come. Our sense of smell is one of the strongest senses. When you smell this scent long after the ceremony, it will bring back memories clearer than your wedding photos.
Perfume or Cologne?
The list below gives the concentration of the standard fragrance types and how they should be applied.
Perfume -- Very concentrated; use sparingly. Best to avoid in very warm weather.
Eau de Parfum -- Very concentrated, but weaker than perfume; apply to pulse points only.
Cologne Half the concentration of perfume; apply to pulse points or lightly spray.
Eau de Toilette -- Generally weaker than cologne; spray normally.
Fragrance Categories
Floral - This is the largest category, and it includes fragrances whose primary ingredients are derived from flowers such as jasmine, rose, violet, carnation, orange-blossom, gardenia, ylang-ylang, etc.
Examples: Carolina Herrera, Paris, White Diamonds, Anna Sui, Vera Wang
Fruity - These are compositions where the inclusion of non-citrus fruits are blended to create a fragrance.
Examples: Burberry of London for Women, Dolce and Gabbana Woman, Nahema by Guerlain, Tropical Punch by Escada
Oriental - Generally full-bodied compositions that create an exotic, warm impression due to the inclusion of ingredients like spices, musk, balsams and resins.
Examples: Royal Secret, Shalimar, Contradiction, Burberry Touch for Women, Obsession by Calvin Klein, Organza Indecence
Chypre - pronounced "sheepra", French for "Cyprus" and first used by François Coty to describe his impression of aromas he encountered on the island of Cyprus.
Examples: Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker, Paloma Picasso, Miss Dior
Citrus - These are compositions where the inclusion of citrus fruits like lime, lemon, tangerine, mandarin and bergamot (often called hesperides) are blended to create a fragrance that has effervescent or exhilarating qualities
Examples - CK One
Fougère - pronounced "foozh-air", French for "fern", these are fragrances with fresh, herbaceous notes on a mossy fernlike base.
Example: Cool Water
Green - These are compositions where the predominant notes are derived from green plant parts and notes such as pine, juniper, grass, leaves, and herbs.
Example: Safari, Bvlgari Extrême
NOTE: Blends of floral and citrus-based fragrances are recommended for casual and daywear. Spicy, woody or warm amber-based fragrances are traditionally favorites for evening and special occasions.
Shopping Tips
Experiment at least one month before your wedding to be sure you like your new fragrance and that youre not allergic to it.
Shop alone for your fragrance to avoid having the opinion of others cloud your judgment.
Never shop for a fragrance while wearing one. The scents will conflict.
Take your time to find the right fragrance as your scent says a lot about your personality.
Always test a fragrance on your skin. Smelling a fragrance in the bottle only reveals the top notes. The base notes develop when fragrance touches your skin and takes a little while to develop fully. Spray the tester, then walk away for an hour or so.
Limit the number of fragrances you smell at a time. If your sense of smell becomes confused, try sniffing coffee beans to refresh it. (Fragrance counters in upscale department stores now have coffee beans available for doing this).
If coffee beans aren't available and your sense of smell becomes overwhelmed, ask for samples to test at home.
Encourage bridesmaids to wear a similar fragrance to avoid clashing scents. Do this by giving fragrance as attendant gifts.
If you intentionally selected aromatic wedding flowers, make sure your fragrance and flowers dont compete.
Tie your wedding day fragrance to your wedding theme. Will yours be a traditional, fairy tale affair? Light floral scents will work best.
Wedding Day Suggestions:
Let the barometer guide you: youll need less fragrance in warm weather. Stick to body mists and scented lotions.
Spray on fragrance before getting dressed to avoid possibly staining your dress.

Title: Billy Idol - White wedding Lyrics
I love this song, one of the best of Billy Idol.
Here are lyrics:
Hey little sister what have you done?
Hey little sister who's the only one?
Hey little sister who's your superman?
Hey little sister who's the one you want?
Hey little sister shot gun!
It's a nice day to start again.
It's a nice day for a white wedding.
It's a nice day to start again.
Hey little sister who is it you're with?
Hey little sister what's your vice and wish?
Hey little sister shot gun (oh yeah)
Hey little sister who's your superman?
Hey little sister shot gun!
It's a nice day to start again
It's a nice day for a white wedding
It's a nice day to start again.
(Pick it up)
Take me back home
Hey little sister what have you done?
Hey little sister who's the only one?
I've been away for so long (so long)
I've been away for so long (so long)
I let you go for so long
It's a nice day to start again (come on)
It's a nice day for a white wedding
It's a nice day to start again. (wow)
There is nothin' fair in this world
There is nothin' safe in this world
And there's nothin' sure in this world
And there's nothin' pure in this world
Look for something left in this world
Start again
Come on
It's a nice day for a white wedding
It's a nice day to start again.
It's a nice day to start again.
It's a nice day to start again
Title: JK Wedding Dancers on The Today Show
The whole wedding party appeared on TODAY Saturday to do an encore of their now-legendary aisle dance.
Most couples wait until the reception before breaking out into the Funky Chicken on their wedding day, but Kevin Heinz and Jill Peterson figured, why wait to unleash their unbridled joy?
The 28-year-olds floored their wedding guests by having their whole bridal party including seven bridesmaids, five groomsmen and four ushers boogie down the aisle in a choreographed dance more at home in a Broadway musical than in a somber church.
Groomsmen split into sides as Heinz did a somersault in front of the wowed crowd and the gown-clad Peterson quickly followed, shaking her hips to Chris Browns Forever while pumping her bridal bouquet into the air during the June 20 ceremony in St. Paul, Minn.
Of course, some things are too good to keep to yourself. And when Kevin posted the wedding dance routine on YouTube, it quickly became a viral hit some Four Million (and counting) people have already shared in the couples novel way of showing their matrimonial joy.
Heinz and Peterson (shes keeping her maiden name) appeared live on TODAY Friday to tell their story of how their artistic self-expression on the biggest day of their lives captured Americas imagination and made them Internet stars.
After watching the video, TODAYs Matt Lauer told the couple, If that was a ceremony, I dont know how you survived the honeymoon! He then asked the couple who came up with the idea.
It was mine, Jill told Lauer. I danced growing up and was a dancer through college and loved dance as a way to express yourself and share joy. So it was something I always thought about doing.
It didnt take her fun-loving husband Kevin long to agree to the idea, saying the decision to dance was the first thing we really decided about the wedding that he wanted to do.
They then broke the news to the parents that their wedding processional wasnt going to take on the more reserved joy of a typical wedding. Jill admitted that her mom was maybe a little nervous, and Kevin said his parents were definitely apprehensive, but didnt try to talk the two crazy kids out of their plan. They swore them to secrecy so other wedding guests wouldnt know what they were up to.
Next up was a dance rehearsal for the wedding party. Anyone seeing the YouTube video might think the whole party was composed of dance professionals the bridesmaids alone, with their waving-hands routine at the altar, are worth the price of admission. But Jill said it was actually more seat-of-the-tux than the final result would indicate.
We [practiced for] an hour and a half, Jill told Lauer. A lot of that, people were sort of making up as they went, people just got really into it and went for it. We just gave them a general layout.
The wedding party rehearsed the dance for just 90 minutes. While guests were clearly overjoyed at getting a floor show even before the champagne flowed at the reception, Kevin and Jill are adamant they werent seeking a quick kiss of fame by posting their dancing high jinks on YouTube. Like many other viral video sensations, it was originally intended for friends and family.
I put it up because her dad had been really harassing me to get it out to some of his other family members, and it exploded, Kevin said.
