Wedding Ceremony & Reception at Marvelous Mitton Hall

Mike & Katie's day was quite simply beautiful, the ceremony and wedding breakfast were both hosted by Mitton Hall, in the Ribble Valley.

So our day began with showers of blessings or severe weather warnings depending on your point of view, not that the weather matters a jot if your celebrations are at Mitton Hall, the conservatory gives you an out door feel (Outdoor lighting for photos) and then the rest of the venue is just so special that there are a million and one places for photography all of them indoors.

So first stop Katie's bedroom to deliver her bridal bouquets, we are very lucky to know Katie and her mum Anne really well, besides them both being fabulous Flower Design clients we also did Anne' s wedding last year so it was lovely to work with them both again on Katie and Mike's wedding.

Katie is stunning, and the most loveliest person, she has exceptional taste and gave me really clear direction but still allowed me to design flowers for her & Mike and of course Mitton Hall in my usual over enthusiastic and passionate way, thanks for trusting me Katie!.

The bedrooms are gorgeous too.

There is a choice of ceremony rooms at Mitton but this very modern space was perfect for Mike & Katie, I made two huge LSA Column vases filled to overflowing with Poplar branches, trails of Jasmine, fresh Peonies, Emily & Rosalind Roses & fabulous raspberry Hydrangeas.
The foliage I used was very lovely, Katie and I had discussed the choice of varieties and colour we wanted to avoid anything limey or vivid, so I chose some delicate blue grey shades including my all time favourite Hosta this variety is Blue Mouse Ears, Acacia baileyana 'Purpurea', Eucalyptus pulverulenta 'Baby Blue' and some Meyeri Fern which is always a delight to use, it flows and bends beautifully.

In the conservatory I arranged tiny posies in glass vases, Peonies, Emily & Rosalind Roses & Fresh dill with tiny sprigs of "Champagne Grass" Panicum.

On the registrars desk I also used small vases, some were in clear glass whilst others were in etched ruby glass.





The room is huge but has cleverly placed pillars which make it feel quite cosy and intimate. The wide aisle is fabulous for big gowns.















In the tiny nosegays I used fresh fragrant Sweet Peas, pink Jasmine, the David Austin rose Miranda (Ausimmon) is part of the second generation of David Austin's Roses.

This rose is remarkable for the giant blooms made up of many wavy petals, perfectly arranged to form beautiful, almost flat rosettes.














The candelabras were both elegant and luscious, I arranged the flowers in a graceful form, with lots of interest and details like the raspberry pink Begonia Rex leaves and gentle mosses.

Veronica the registrar is an an old friend of ours and she has an uncanny knack of matching her own outfit with that of the wedding, last time we met at The Inn at Whitewell, she wore pale green to compliment the flowers, she conducts a lovey service too, properly sincere and dignified.

For Bernard the groom’s father we’d made an Emily Rose Boutonnière

For the Groom Mike, we especially designed a boutonnière created from sprigs of fresh lily of the Valley used in Katie’s bridal bouquet.

Barbara the Groom’s Mum was wearing a champagne coloured suit with navy trim on her hat, we individually designed a Mothers epaulette corsage to compliment the style colour and design of the outfit chosen, We included a Patience Rose, Crystal Blush Calla, & Gerbera Petals, finished with some navy ribbon.






Katie was given away by her brother and was attended by two of the most beautiful and talented bridesmaid's ever Hannah & Olivia.

Katie's Gown was in Champagne silk with exquisite butterfly beading designed by Jenny Packham. From One & Only in Preston.











Hannah & Olivia provided a reading "The Owl & The Pussy Cat" and musical entertainment "Dream a little Dream" both so beautifully performed there wasn't a dry eye in the house.

he was a pleasure to work with and seemed to make everyone really relaxed, I can't wait to see his work.



Barry ran the day at Mitton Hall and was first to congratulate the bride and groom with glasses of Champagne.

Then into the conservatory for cocktails and Champagne

The bouquet I made for Katie was heavenly lots of lovely pale and rose pink Peonies, fresh Lily of the Valley, Rosalind & Emily Peony Roses from David Austin, the style was open, honest and blousy, the stems were semi naked and bound with Champagne Silk and then tied up like ballet slippers.

Hannah & Olivia carried bouquets that complimented Katie's but we included tiny diamante studs in the hearts of one or two of the roses, the handles were bound with the same fabric as their gowns.

The girls did tell me that they'd been quite a few tines bridesmaids before but these were the very best bouquets they'd been given.

Kieran was definitley the best dressed chap at the wedding, he also wore his Rosalind rose Buttonierre with panache.

We made Anne an Avant-Garde Style Wrist corsage of signature flowers to include jewels, the shades matched her fabulous Butterfly fascinator.

Lots of old friends here's Maria, you'll recognise her from the Flower Design Supper Club, love the handbag Maria.

The Canapes looked and tasted delicious, they were elegantly presented and brought out in small batches so they were always hot, I love that kind of detail.

Table Flowers:A large silver candelabra with a very Baroque style fresh pale pink peonies and sweet peas arranged around the top of the candelabra foliages and flowers trailing down to the table, the table was dressed with fragrant Rose petals, diamante sprkle and tea lights in frosted glass votives.

The tall floor standing vases from the ceremony remained in situation and provided a beautiful frame for the top table.

The rose tinted glass looked perfect with these tiny fragrant posies on the top table.

I dressed the white chocolate cake with more roses and Lily of the valley.





The whole atmosphere was extremely elegant.



I used A silver fruit bowl containing an opulent mass of fresh peonies, sweet peas and fragrant herbs on the tables that had low designs they are an excellent partner for the “Baroque” style candelabra

Sally & I had been to visit a couple of weeks ago link and were seriously impressed, unfortunately since then banqueting manager Alana has left and the lovely Rachel is now in charge of all things banqeting, she was incredibly accomodating removing the huge quantity of good quality silk flowers to make way for our fresh blooms, many thanks for making this so painless for us (Some venues are very precious about their artificial flowers).

This whole day was blissful from start to finish, we were so delighted to be part of it, huge congratulations to all of the family but especially to Mike & Katie have a wonderful life together, be happy always.
